DRESSAGE: AS APPLIED TO THE
GAITED HORSE
DRESSAGE is the French word for "Training" When applied to the Gaited horse
simply means, teaching you and the horse from the basics to advanced levels a
solid foundation to it's inherent gait.

Jackson has translated these trotting techniques and applied those theories of
horsemanship to the gaited horse so it can do whatever activity you want to
eventually do. Whether for pleasure, showing or versatility. You will be able to do
all of these activities with the four beat gait it was bred to do. Starting with bits
that will encourage your horse to shake it's head liberally and deliberately, and
how to properly use your reins in hand, Teaching the horse to leg yield from the
ground and then from the back of the horse, squaring up the pacey horse and
lengthening the square moving horse without gimmicks. Using Leg yielding,
proper hands and seat. Preparing the horse for the next level, cantering and
much more.

VOLUME 3
CANTERING GAITED HORSES
The art of correctly cantering with gaited horses has been for a long
time a mystery and a frustration to many. In this Volume Jennie teaches
in a clinic setting first time riders and horses how to correctly canter for
the first time out.
This Volume sets the foundational work for more advance cantering
movements such as:
Canter Cues, The Collected Canter, The
Extended Canter, The Counter Canter and finally, Flying Lead
Changes and Tempe Changes.

Keeping in mind, cantering a gaited horse is somewhat different than
the trotting horse, conformational qualities must be taken in
consideration because they are gaited. Learn what those are and how
to understand the mechanics of gaited horses.

Lateral Positioning~ it’s all relative! This is where it all starts!

In this DVD Series filmed in a clinic setting, Jennie takes us through working
towards Collection. We will work on foundation steps of the “Training Scale
Pyramid” Rhythm, Suppleness, Contact, Impulsion and finally Collection

This is accomplished with correctly initiating and developing; Pivot of The
Forehand, Leg Yield, Shoulder In and Shoulder Fore.

Mastering these movements prepare us for the next tiers of Straightness and
Collection.

Focusing yours and your horse’s attention to these movements brings about a
collaborative connection in horse and rider which becomes as Jennie
describes;
“A Dance Between Horse and Rider.”

By watching various riders and horses at different stages of development, you
may find a level which you may be on and hone into the problems or difficulties
in working through what you and your horse may be stuck on.

Watch as these horse/rider combos grow and improve in their carriage
developing into calmer, rounder and supple rides.
